Asian Dramas/Films/Anime I’ve Seen

by: Raine

(The Princess’ Man’s first kiss.)

I started this list out of curiosity. How much drama do I ACTUALLY watch?  It’s a scary amount of hours when I look at it! Here’s the sad part: I hope to add more. Much more.

This is by no means a comprehensive list. I will update it as often as I can.

I have listed the title of the drama/film/anime, the year it was filmed and the number of episodes it has. Title (Year) (# of Episodes)

(Listings in Red I absolutely adore.)

(Listings in Italics I gave up on.)

(Antique Bakery fun; Nodame and Chiaki rehearsing in Nodame’s pigsty…)

    hello Raine,

I am surprise that you fancy korean dramas. wow!
I myself love korean dramas. Used to be addicted to it.
Nearly took out most of my time in a day.

    I watched them via viki.

Thanks for sharing on these dramas. My addiction is going to go worse. Haha!

    • Raine says:

Wait, really? Hehe. I have a side job writing on Hancinema about them and I run this blog. It really does take so much time. I just finished Heartless City not moments ago and I’m still crying. LOL.

      • Benedetta crafty says:

There is one drawbacks about Korean dramas. You will need a tissue box whenever you watching it. Since you are a fan, I believe you know what I meant. Okay, I will watch Heartless City the next. Now I am following I Miss You.

        • Raine says:

Ah, I didn’t watch that one despite the fact that I love Yoochun and Yoon Eun-hye and the younger cast. Heartless City is more action packed and less weepy. Are you watching Monstar and I hear Your Voice? Both are ending this week. Both are fabulous! Next week a whole new crop of shows are coming up!

          • Benedetta crafty says:

Thanks for all the recommendations. I hear your voice sounds like a ghost drama. I can’t take ghost movies. I will freak out and have not so nice sleeps at night.
Glad and happy to know you Raine. It’s always nice to know someone that have something in common.
And Raine, you will make me glued to my computer even more now. haha
            Hugs…….

            • Raine says:

I hear Your Voice isn’t about ghosts. A man can read thoughts! SO GOOD! Creepy because there is a serial killer, but mostly cute! 😀 Good to know you, too!

  2. Alice says:

Hi Raine~! :DDD I just recently discovered your recaps and blogs and I absolutely LOVE it!!! X333 you do SUCH a good job summarizing and explanining the dramas such as Fashion King and you also seem to read my mind when you rant about the characters. XDDD hahaha but I’m leaving a comment here to recommend a kdrama that I see on your to be watched list but I’m still going to blab about-“The Moon That Embraces the Sun” DANG that was one good drama!!! I know that I haven’t seen as many dramas as you have but I’ve seen my share and this one is probably my favorite one. (I swear I sobbed through about a third of the drama-and I usually don’t cry while watching dramas. (TT^TT)) it was first highly recommended me by my Korean friend (yes, she was actually from korea XDDD) and then I got curious and so I watched it-and LOVED IT. XDDD ok I admit-sometimes it may be a bit stereotypical Asian dramaish (this coming from an Asian XDDD) but I thought they pulled it off. The main lead who I didn’t really like in Dream High blew me away with his acting in this one. I LOVE it <333 (and the kid actors were freaking amazing. The young Crown Prince grew on me. Alot. X333) it's a extremely well done fictional historical drama and I highly recommend it (finished it in like 3 days. @.@ I could NOT stop watching…) You should totally make this the next drama to watch!!! :DDD what do you think? :3

  3. zgznoona says:

Great list, I limit my self to list the Korean Dramas I’ve seen, and that’s more than a hundred (btw, I’ve to update it). It would be frightening to admit to all the other kind of dramas and movies I’ve seen. and time consuming, of couse

  4. kierikieli says:

oh wow, did you actually remember that you watched/read all of that?? I know what I read and watched but I don’t think I can make a list of them.
But don’t you watched Zettai Kareshi special?? How about Ouran high school?

  5. Becoming Bitter says:

Are you writing this list for me? We’ve seen mostly (almost exactly) the same dramas. Loved the movies you mentioned up there – Nodame especially. Love Sailor Moon! I’ve seen the english version and Japanese version. Loved Spirited Away.

Can I make a recommendation for you? If you really love Sailor Moon. They have a live action version called Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (PGSM). You can find all the episodes on YouTube. Just make sure you type “PGSM Act 1” to the get first episode.

God even our “already read” manga list is so similar. How scary indeed.

    • Raine says:

Bitter – That’s a little crazy! So hey, if you have any suggestions on what you’re going to watch next, let me know. I saw one of those episodes once, but it was back when Youtube sucked majorly and I didn’t get past like 10 minutes…I will have to try again. I watched the first episode of Flower Boy RAWR yum Shop yesterday and I’m in the middle of Sang-doo, Let’s Go to School. I promised JoAnne from DB I would and I’m super enjoying it. It’s got comedy plus melo mixed VERY well.

MadDino – I’m ok with gruesome. I’ve been desensitized by American everything. The only thing I realllllllllly can’t handle is watching myself get blood drawn…

  6. skittle9891 says:

    Hi,

See your lack of Cdrama, I would like to recommend Bu Bu Jing Xin (you can watch on Viki with English translation subbed by fans). Also you must read ONE PIECE! (Totally cheap getting 3-in-1 on Amazon). Best manga ever.

    • Raine says:

the jawavillager: *hides in shame* SO SORRY! I will watch as soon as I finish TPM. Gokusen is entertaining but pretty light on plot. It’s a slice of life.

skittle9891: I don’t know why I’ve been avoiding One Piece. I’ve been seeing BBJX floating around the forums. I will put it on my list:)

      • MadDino says:

Just a warning. I thought that BBJX had a gruesome death in the later parts and it kind of killed my love for the drama. If you have a weak stomach like me think it over again.

  7. thejawavillager says:

OMG. First of all, very impressed by your list. Alphabetized too. wow. I’m completely humbled. 😛 Looking at your list reminded me of some of the dramas that I mentally put on my to-watch list and forgot about. LOL, I’ve put Gokusen on download. Have high hopes for it.
That said, HOW COME YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED DREAM HIGH OR SUNGKYUNKWAN SCANDAL?! I know you have a ginormous to-watch list. BUT PLEASE go watch these two FIRST. You have my word You will not be disappointed…:D

  8. Raine says:

Min – I totally love Hong Sisters. I really like the wit behind it and the cuteness! I used that same GF comment in one of my blogs. I wanted to put a bit about each show but maybe I can do it slowly. I want to get all my sections up first. Besitos :-*

muchadoaboutlove – welcome to my site! I had trouble finishing some of the dramas on my list, too. I’m a HUGE Nodame fan. After I watched it I bought the season, the specials and the movies. “Mukya!”

MadDino – Hey love! Yes there is a Nodame movie. The specials are about her recital, the movie takes place in Paris, follows the manga pretty well. And when did I start watching dramas? I started with doramas in ’05 and dramas sometime last year. But the real start was Sailor Moon in like ’98, then more anime/manga.

  9. Min says:

waaah, I should make a list too! in fact I did start to make a list with a few comments about what I thought of each, but then it got too unruly to handle and I gave it up 😛

Oh and I noticed that three of your most loved dramas are from the Hong sisters^^ I love those too! 😛 In fact, borrowing words from Girlfriday from DB regarding MGIAG- “Show you complete me” heh

  10. muchadoboutlove says:

hi there! first time looking around here^^

looking at your list, I actually envy you so much. I couldn’t even bring my heart to finish some of the dramas that you’ve watched.

    plus, you’ve watched nodame’s movies! both of them! oww..I really envy you right now ^^;

  11. MadDino says:

Here’s the even sadder part. I’ve actually watched more than that, but I probably couldn’t tell you more than a few sentences about half of them.

Wait there is a Nodame Cantible movie…:o

When did you start watching dramas? Just curious.
