Sungkyunkwan Scandal: Episode 2 Recap

by: Raine

Raine: Hello world, we are back after FOREVER! Since we live on opposite ends of the world, schedules are just a TEENY bit difficult to coordinate, but we have finally managed it! So Akiko from An Entertaining Cup of Morning Coffee and I are back with another recap. We really like recapping a show we’ve already seen. It’s very different from recapping live and fun to pick apart with prior knowledge of the plot.

Akiko: Yup, here we are, back with another episode recap of one of our favorite dramas from the ‘olden ages’…

It does feel olden ages. How long has it been though?

Raine: Let’s not put a number on it and make it absolutely shameful…

Akiko: (Egging Raine on) Fighting!! ^_^

Raine: And now for the very untimely recap…

The Thousandth Man: Episode 2 Recap

by: Raine

This episode dropped 5.1% according to AGB Nielsen Nationwide. I totally don’t get it. The show just got cuter. A few not-so-surprising secrets were revealed, but I feel close enough to the characters to let the mundane tropes slide. Hyomin was particularly adorable this episode. (Boo T-ara scandals. Just enjoy the show, peeps). Lee Chun-hee’s smile makes me all giggly and Kang Ye-won has a wicked smirk.

Big: Episode 2 Recap

by: Raine

And the fun has really begun with episode 2, which dropped a bit to 7.4% (AGB Nielson National). BIG served up a pinch of mystery, a dash of angst and a whole lot of laugh-out-loud antics. We can’t forget a cup of sex humor and a vat of social commentary. It took a turn that I didn’t expect, which really makes me want episode 3, like, now.

Rooftop Prince: Episode 2 Recap

by: Raine and MadDino

(Even Team Joseon pays homage to The Beatles.)

Raine: I’ve found a new K-drama love and her name is Rooftop Prince. Where else can you find hanbok wearing, whip cream eating, unwitting slapstick comedians from the Joseon era? RIGHT HERE! Don’t forget chipmunk voices, tooth-brushing and toilet flushing good times.

Episode 1 came in at 9.8% on the ratings and I’m willing to be this episode improved upon that. I seriously busted a gut. It had a healthy dose of fun, romance, plot development, evil and a whole lot of clever. Me and MadDino had an AWESOME time recapping this.

Fashion King: Episode 2 Recap

by: Raine

This episode takes the crazy amalgamation of loan sharks, replica fashion, impoverished heroines, chaebol second leads, evil mothers and one ups it. It was sort of all over the place. We have too many different elements floating around that I’m not sure where they came from. But I do know one thing – EVERYTHING is connected. How they will manage to do it in a believable fashion, I do not know. Or maybe they won’t.

That said, it was entertaining. Yoo Ah-in was hysterical/heart-breaking. Yu-ri finally made her appearance, albeit briefly. She was pretty good actually! *thumbs up* Ga-young’s character got WAY more interesting and I’m falling in love with actor Je-hoon. Waiter, bring me one of those.
